As one chapter ended this fall, another chapter will soon begin for Central High School Coosa County athlete Jordan Stansbury.
A football player most of his life, Stansbury will be continuing his football career in Texas with the Texas College Steers while pursuing his college degree. Last Thursday, joined by his family, Stansbury officially committed and signed a contract with the college.
Stansbury has played football since he was 5 years old, beginning with flag football. Originally from New York, he and his family moved to Alabama in 2015.
At that time he began playing football for Sylacauga Parks and Recreation until he joined the Cougars and started playing for Central Coosa in tenth grade.
Stansbury made varsity in tenth grade, as well. He played left guard and defensive tackle and was numbers 62 and 72 for the Coosa Cougars.
While playing for the Texas College Steers in Tyler, Texas, Stansbury will major in computer science. After graduating college, he wants to go on to join the NFL or a professional football league.
Stansbury is the son of Jonathan Stroud and Angela Stansbury-Stroud and the brother of Gracie Stroud.
