Softball players celebrate with senior night, win against B.B. Comer

The pre-game ceremony celebrated four Lady Cougar senior softball players, their accomplishments and their future plans. All four seniors have played softball for Central for six years starting in the eighth grade.
Markee Goff; who has played as a catcher, first and third baseman; was joined by her mother, Kimberly Burks, and grandmother, Joan Burks.
Abigail Hyatt; who has played third base, center and pitcher; was joined by her parents, Tabitha and Jonathan Hyatt.
Abbeie Smith; who has played all positions in the outfield, as well as second base; was joined by her dad, Tim Smith.
Lastly, Kali Snell, who has been a utility player, was joined by her mother, Donya Thomas; father, Mark Snell; and grandfather, Dennis Stough.
All the seniors had great memories with their teammates to share and special words of thanks to their coaches and parents. It was a heartwarming ceremony that celebrated these young ladies who have spent a third of their lives playing softball at Central. They also shared their future plans, and we are proud that they all have such promising futures ahead of them.
The celebration continued as the Central of Coosa County Cougars blew past the Comer Tigers 12-2 in their senior night game. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Central of Coosa County also won the last time the pair played back in February.
Brynlee Hawthorne was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn’t allow a single earned run and only one hit over five innings pitched. Hawthorne was also solid in the batter’s box, going 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI.
In other batting news, Kali Snell was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Markee Goff, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
