A young woman from south Alabama was arrested late last month in a case regarding stolen property.
On March 31, Deputy Payton was on routine patrol along Liveoak Lane and County Road 29 when he observed a vehicle pull into Liveoak Lane then pull out and leave.
Payton continued patrolling the area in Stewartville. He saw the same vehicle in that area attempt to pull out and leave when the driver saw him.
Payton conducted a traffic stop and began investigating. After making the traffic stop, he ran the vehicle information, and it came back stolen from another county.
As such, the driver, 18-year-old Alexis Taylor Houk of Dothan, was arrested and charged with first-degree receiving stolen property because of it being a motor vehicle.
Her bond was set at $10,000, and as of press time she remained in custody at the Coosa County Jaila waiting trial.
