A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 6:35 p.m. Monday, March 4, has claimed the lives of two people.
Joyce A. Lowe, 73, of Ashville, was fatally injured when the 2010 Jeep Patriot, that she was a passenger in, collided head on with a 2004 Crown Victoria driven by John K. Robinson, 39, of Ragland. Lowe was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Jeep; James E. Lowe Jr., 45, also of Ashville; was critically injured and transported to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Hospital for treatment where he later succumbed to injuries.
Robinson was injured and transported to Ascension St. Vincent’s St. Clair Hospital in Pell City for treatment.
Sabrina L. Lowe; 51, of Ashville, another passenger of the Jeep, who was not using a seat belt at the time of crash; was injured and transported to UAB by helicopter for treatment.
The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 231 near Ivy Drive, approximately four miles north of Pell City, in St. Clair County.
Nothing further is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
