There are some changes to the monthly scheduled Neighborhood Watch meeting. It is being canceled for February, and everyone was encouraged to attend the February 22 Ambulance Funding, Tag Fee Vote Informative Meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the E-911 building at 66 Communication Drive in Rockford.
This meeting was to discuss the details regarding the vote on March 5 to increase tag fees by $15 to continue to fund the new Coosa County Ambulance Service. This fee is crucial to sustain the only career, full-time paramedic staffed ambulance that operates 24/7/365 in Coosa County. You can see the flyer on Facebook for more information.
Personally, I don’t want to lose this service. I can remember the first time I called them; it happened to be their first day of operation. A motorcyclist was hit on Highway 9, and the rider was in extreme pain, and we were not sure if he had suffered a spine injury or not so he could not be moved. I called 911 and waited what seemed like forever because the man was in such pain, but the wait would have been twice to three times longer if an ambulance would have come from other communities. We found out later that the ambulance service was called out a second time to Equality that same day, and they have been busy ever since.
Jenny’s General has been expanding their inventory selections including Amish Wedding jams, jellies and preserves; pickled items; new essential oils to naturally freshen up your home; organic bar shampoo and conditioner; and castile soap that is safe for you and for your septic system.
There is consideration to bring in Amish cheeses and butter if there is enough interest since these have a short shelf life in the store, so they must be sold before the best buy date is reached.

Friday, February 23, is a live performance by Peter K Muzik, professional guitarist whose repertoire consists of all original modern style, smooth jazz, Latin, funk with an edge, at Coosa Live (formerly known as Equality Performing Arts Center) which is tonight.
Come enjoy an evening out enjoying live music. While it is not mandatory, you are encouraged to bring a dish of shareable food for our “Potluck,” and if you can afford to drop something into the donation jar for the music, it helps keep the lights on. Coosa Live provides free coffee, iced tea, water, and fresh-popped popcorn, as well as some of the potluck offerings.
