Mary White, M.S. Ed, has been teaching physical science, chemistry and physics at Central High School for six years. When asked about her teaching philosophy, Mrs. White stated, “It can be perfectly summed up by B.B. King. Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.”
Mrs. White added that she understands the need for children to learn in an environment where everyone is respectful of each other. She instructs her students to respect one another and never treat anyone unkind. Lastly, she believes in being fair and consistent with all her students, understanding that all students are not the same.
Mrs. White said, “A big part of an educator’s job is being able to decipher what each student needs to be successful while maintaining consistency and structure in the classroom. I love the challenge of helping students meet their individual educational goals.”
When asked what she likes most about her job Mrs. White said, “I love my students and enjoy the excitement and joy kids experience when they finally have that ‘aha’ moment in class or lab. We have some of the best students at CHS. They love to learn, and it makes teaching such a joy.”
Mrs. White added that her chemistry and physics students have been rocking it this year! They have done a lot of projects and labs, and they have excelled beyond her expectations. Mrs. White also said, “I would like to mention that I work with an amazing group of educators that I learn from daily. I feel like any educator that dedicates the time and energy each day deserves recognition for it, and I am thankful for being named a Teacher of the Month.”
Mrs. White is also the CHS sponsor for Key Club Division 9. Mrs. White received a Teacher of the Month yard sign compliments of SGA. Congratulations, Mrs. White.
