The Jobs for Alabama Graduates (JAG) at Central High School of Coosa County represented well by placing first in the JAG competition at the Montgomery Marriott Prattville Hotel & Conference Center at Capitol Hill Prattville. This was a great opportunity for JAG members to showcase their knowledge and leadership skills. This is the second year they have competed, and they are already off to a great start.
In this year’s competition, there were many different categories, and the categories involved either one person or group competitions. Traci Cox competed independently in Employability Skills, alongside Reagan Cardwell who competed in Career Preparedness, and Mariah Gilbert who competed in Financial Literacy. Competing in Creative Decision Making as a group were Karla Morales, Kali Snell, Kelsie McLaughlin, and Roderick Graham. Everyone worked very hard and did such a great job competing.
With all of the hard work, we had two to place in the competition. Mariah Gilbert won first place in Financial Literacy, and Karla, Kali, Kelsi, and Roderick won first place in Creative Decision Making. This is the second year the Central JAG team placed first in Financial Literacy, and they will now proceed to state and eventually national competitions with continued success.
The Central JAG team is excited to add another first place category this year, Creative Decision Making, which will also take the team to state and eventually national competitions with continued success. Thank you to Ms. Phillips, the JAG specialist, who has helped the students work hard and prepare for the competitions. She is so very proud of them and looks forward to leading them on to victory at the state and national levels.
Congratulations to our JAG competitors; we are so proud of your accomplishments. The Central JAG team will be competing in the state competition March 5, in Birmingham. Thank you to JAG president Kali Snell for sharing information on their competition, as well as their sponsor Debbie Phillips for coordinating the JAG program. Go Cougars!
