Central boys, girls basketball teams dominating in Area Tournament play; girls named 2A Area 7 Champions

The Lady Cougars went on the road for their Area Tournament play to Isabella. Monday’s game at Isabella against B.B. Comer ended with the Lady Cougars taking the win with a score of 52-42. It was much the same Wednesday night as the Lady Cougars took the win against Isabella on their home court with a score of 49-55. As the 2A Area 7 Champions, the Lady Cougars will now progress to Sub- Regional Tournament play.
The following was reported on MaxPreps for the boys Area Tournament game against Fayetteville Tuesday. The Central of Coosa County Cougars entered their tilt with the Fayetteville Wolves with nine consecutive wins, but they’ll enter their next game with ten. Central of Coosa County claimed a resounding 71-24 victory over Fayetteville at home. Central of Coosa County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 21 points or more this season.
Connor Mitchell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that’s the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Majavius Culpepper, who scored 11 points along with five assists.
As the paper goes to press the boys are playing in their second Area game at home against B.B. Comer, and with a win they will also advance to Sub-Regional Tournament play. Go Cougars!
