Late last month an Alexander City man was arrested in connection to a vehicle theft that occurred in August.
Chief Deputy Scott Hammond reported that on August 23, Deputy Payton responded to a call on Alabama Highway 9 in reference to a stolen vehicle. The victim last saw the vehicle on August 13, and it was reportedly stolen from the fenced-in area by the old Golden Rule near the Highway 9 and Alabama Highway 22 intersection.
The initial report was turned over to investigations, and during the follow-up investigation by Sgt. Ward and Investigator Hodge, Ward saw the vehicle in the Kellyton area in January. During the ongoing investigation, Ward followed up with the individual who had the vehicle at the Kellyton shop.
Through that interview, he discovered that 26-year-old Angelo Michael Pearson had allegedly stolen the vehicle.
He was arrested on January 23 and charged with first-degree theft of property of a motor vehicle. His bond was set at $5,000, and he has since been released on bond to await trial.
