Central Elementary and Central High School teachers participated in professional development in preparation for students returning for the second semester of the school year. Elementary teachers planned literacy activities for upcoming parent events, while the high school teachers learned how PowerSchool can be an effective tool for parental engagement.
The sessions were led by Ron Mirr, consultant for the Literacy Everywhere! Grant, and grant project director Meg Masters. Also visiting were Diana Suarez and Justin Stephens with Coactive Collective, who are responsible for the evaluation portion of the grant.
Literacy Everywhere is planning several parent literacy events in the upcoming semester that focus on enhancing literacy, parent engagement and student achievement. Please follow Literacy Everywhere! on Facebook at Literacy Everywhere-Coosa County Schools and on Instagram at literacy_everywhere_coosa_ for up to date information, events and literacy tips.
