The Weogufka Neighborhood Watch was recently awarded a beautiful framed Certificate of Appreciation and given a donation toward the group’s ongoing veterans project.
On November 16, Mike Holmes with the American Legion Post 45 presented this plaque to the group “in recognition and sincere appreciation of outstanding service and assistance which contributed to the advancement of the American Legion programs and activities dedicated to God and country.”
The American Legion Post 45 receives no financial assistance from the government and is responsible for funding its various projects through means of their own, such as yard sales on the second Saturday of every month.
In addition to helping out the community whenever possible, the Weogufka Neighborhood Watch has built and maintained the beautiful veterans’ memorial on County Road 29 and Memorial Loop in Weogufka.
Each Veterans Day the Weogufka Neighborhood Watch has a program in honor and memory of the brave men and women who have fought for our freedom. The Neighborhood Watch group stated that it is very proud of the community and appreciates the many volunteer hours that it takes to make it a success.
If you are interested in adding a veteran to this monument, please contact Mary Alyce Bennett at 256-267-6885, Melvin Palmer at 256-249-8885, or Joey Moore at 205-294-4762.
