Kellyton’s Christmas Celebration will be held Saturday, December 2, from 5-8 p.m. at the Kellyton Civic Complex, located at 145 Church Street, Kellyton. Enjoy shopping for yourself or others with a variety of vendors in the gift shop area; purchase baked goods and other homemade treats in the sweet shop; and let the children enjoy face painting, games and a bouncy house in the Kid Zone. Popcorn and cotton candy will be sold. Everyone can enjoy free hot chocolate and coffee, and each attendee will get a ticket for a free hot dog, chips and a soda. Santa will arrive at 6 p.m. to greet the children and take photos. Make plans to attend this year’s event!
The Equality Volunteer Fire Department will hold its monthly fundraiser Saturday, December 2, with a bake sale beginning at 7:30 a.m., rummage sale at 8, and lunch from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come out to support the Equality VFD.
The J. D. Thompson Alumni Association is inviting everyone to “Christmas in the Grove” Sunday, December 10, from 1–3 p.m. This open house event is a time to celebrate the Christmas season, come out and see our Christmas decorations, and enjoy your favorite carols; light refreshments will be served. If you missed visiting with us this year, this is your chance to tour the historic elementary building and see the artifacts on display. Don’t forget we are in the Cottage Grove community, 1723 County Road 30.
The monthly meeting for the Coosa County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors will be held on Monday, December 18, at 10 a.m. at the District Office located at 226 Coosa County Road 157 in Hanover.
December 23-January 4
The Coosa County Landfill will be closed from Saturday, December 23, through Thursday, January 4. It will reopen with normal hours resuming Saturday, January 6.
The Goodwater Youth Development and Recreational Center is open to the public weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and practice days for the travel ball team are those same days from 5 to 6 p.m. Cheerleader practice is held on Wednesdays and Fridays. The Friends of Flagg Mountain host a potluck dinner (bring something to share) with entertainment by local musicians on the First Friday of every month. The Hanover Community Club and Neighborhood Watch will now hold quarterly gatherings at Andrews Chapel. These quarterly gatherings are held on the third Tuesday of March, June, September, and December at Andrews Chapel Fellowship Hall at 6 p.m. Everyone is cordially invited and encouraged to attend.
