Union Square News
Ruby Johnson
Happy Thanksgiving to everybody from Union Square. It’s a short week and a short column – more on my story next week.
Our prayers and condolences go to our Union Square neighbors, Kim Abrams and Raymond, in the loss of her father, Mr. George Vernon, and former neighbor, Mrs. Jessie Leonard McGhee, in the loss of her husband, Mr. Ernest McGhee, such a wonderful, fun and real fellow. We all will miss him and that good fish he fried at family and friends’ social gatherings, as well as all the joking and teasing. Gatherings won’t be the same anymore. We love you, Mrs. Jessie. We won’t say bye to Ernest. We’ll just say later until we meet.
Union Square still has much to be thankful for, and we thank and praise God for it all, despite the lack of Thanksgiving signs and decorations being put out before Christmas. Well, Union Square’s church is decorated with a stand-up table out back (haha). Thank you, whoever did it. I believe we all know what I am talking about, and we all love you for doing it. It looks good passing by. It makes you want to stand up straight when you feel like falling.
Whenever you feel down and passing through, just look over there, and you’ll feel so good looking, because before when you looked over there you felt bad. I know Pat Windsor feels better. It’s something to be thankful for in this Thanksgiving season, especially if you have been under the weather like some of us Union Square Neighborhood Watch members.
We can thank God for just little things, and big blessings will follow at Christmas and thereafter. Let’s thank Him for Jesus being born as we celebrate His birthday in December.
November has not left us yet! Jesus will always be here. He is the beginning and the end. It’s okay to celebrate Him now. However, don’t forget to be thankful all year!
God is truly using and blessing Pastor Chris Hill like never before! People of God at Rockford Church of God are so thankful. I know some of you reading my column are thinking and saying, “She’s mentioned ‘thankful’ too much.” But you know what? We all should be thankful that we can say “Thank you, God,” for He has our next breath. We should wear it on our heart for just being able to breathe. God’s truth is not silent and never will be!
I will finish on Pastor Hill next week. Got to go now.
Let’s keep Bryson Carden and all our loved ones under the weather in prayer.
