Mrs. Johnson has been teaching at Central High School for three years and currently teaches tenth and twelfth grade English language arts. When asked about her teaching philosophy, Mrs. Johnson said, “I work hard to provide engaging lessons that include everyone in my classroom. I think it is important for every student to feel included and know that my classroom is a safe space. I try to incorporate real-life lessons into my classrooms and the things we read in class. I believe that students need to know that teachers are interested in the things they are doing and interested in. I believe each student has a place and voice in the classroom, and it is my goal to make them feel comfortable to learn and express themselves.”
When asked what she loves most about her job, Mrs. Johnson said, “The people and the students. I have some pretty awesome co-workers, and the students at Central are really something special.”
Mrs. Johnson also serves as the varsity cheer sponsor, a prom sponsor and the senior class sponsor. Outside of school, Mrs. Johnson and her husband run a backgrounding yard for calves and are very involved in the agriculture industry. She loves living on the farm with her husband, daughter and son who all enjoy playing with the animals, especially the chickens.
Mrs. Johnson added, “I am thankful for Central High School and the surrounding community. They have been super accepting since I came to Central, and I love getting to meet members of the community.”
Congratulations, Mrs. Johnson!
