October 30 & November 4

The Coosa County Long Term Recovery Committee is holding a chicken plate fundraiser. Proceeds will benefit CCLTRC, serving those in Coosa County impacted by the January 12 tornado. Plates are $10 each and include ¼ smoked chicken, baked beans, chips, and dessert. Pickup will be November 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Alfa office in Rockford. Order deadline is October 30, and plates can be paid for at pickup. Cash or check accepted at pickup. 10% discount on plates for all first responders. November 4

Coosa Upward Sports is holding registration for flag football and cheer Saturday, November 4, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Central Coosa gymnasium located at 97 County Road 75, Rockford. Open to public, private and homeschool youth in kindergarten through sixth grade. Registration fee: $50 for boys/girls flag football and girls cheerleading. November 5

The Weogufka Veterans Day Ceremony will be held Sunday, November 5, at 2 p.m. at 145 Memorial Loop, Weogufka, 35183. Sponsored by The Weogufka Neighborhood Watch.

 

November 10

The Weogufka Center will host bingo night on Friday, November 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. Hot dogs will be sold beginning at 5:30 p.m.

 

November 20

The monthly meeting for the Coosa County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors will be held on Monday, November 20, at 10 a.m. at the District Office located at 226 Coosa County Road 157 in Hanover.

 

Weekly

The Goodwater Youth Development and Recreational Center is open to the public weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and practice days for the travel ball team are those same days from 5 to 6 p.m. Cheerleader practice is held on Wednesdays and Fridays. Monthly

The Friends of Flagg Mountain host a potluck dinner (bring something to share) with entertainment by local musicians on the First Friday of every month. Bring a chair and join the fun and fellowship with dinner starting at 6 p.m. For more information, see the Friends of Flagg Facebook page or contact Jodi McDade at 334-651-5226 (leave a message).

The Coosa County Republican Party meets the fourth Monday of every month at the Coosa County E-911 building in Rockford with refreshments at 6 p.m. and the meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. For more information email coosacountyrepublicans@gmail.com.

The West Coosa Senior Center will host breakfast on the fourth Saturday of each month from 7-10 a.m. at the senior center, located in the old Stewartville school, located at 47 Coosa County Road 70, Sylacauga, 35151. Plates will be available for $6 each with choices of ham, bacon, sausage, eggs, gravies, and more! Dine in or call ahead to 256-249-2024 to carry out. Donations are appreciated!

Richville Neighborhood Watch will be held the first Thursday of each month at the fire department, 13185 Coosa County Rd. 14, Rockford, 35136. The gathering begins with a potluck meal at 6 p.m., and the meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Come out and see what is happening in your community.

 

Quarterly

The Hanover Community Club and Neighborhood Watch will now hold quarterly gatherings at Andrews Chapel. These quarterly gatherings are held on the third Tuesday of March, June, September, and December at Andrews Chapel Fellowship Hall at 6 p.m. Everyone is cordially invited and encouraged to attend. Y’all come!
