October 20-28

Get those creative juices flowing and plan to enter the second anniversary Scarecrow Celebration at the Weogufka Center! Construct your scarecrow and be ready to display your masterpiece on October 20-26. Winners will be announced at Old Farm Day on October 28 and posted on the Weogufka Center Facebook page after the announcement. First place $150, second place $75, third place $50. Judging will be done on Friday, October 27, so make sure you have your scarecrow displayed at the Weogufka Center campus by that day. First come, first serve on any outside location at the center. Each scarecrow will be assigned a number during judging.


October 27

BridgeWays of Coosa County is hosting Kids Night Out! This is a 3-and-a-half hour event where kids in PK4 through fifth grades enjoy dinner, play games, participate in activities, and socialize with their BridgeWays friends. Kids Night Out will be held on the following Fridays: October 27 – Halloween Party (costumes encouraged, but not required) and December 15 – Christmas Caroling. Cost is $12 per child, including dinner and all activities. Drop-off is between 5:30-6 p.m., and pick-up between 8:30-9 p.m. at our Rockford Program Center, 9922 U.S. Highway 231. October 28

Farm Day will be held at the Weogufka Center on Saturday, October 28, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. $5 per vehicle. Sausage biscuits and coffee will be sold beginning at 7 a.m. Come on out and join in the fun with vendors, music, antique cars, pony and wagon rides, food, fried apple pies, activities in the “Learn About the Farm Children’s Center,” cake auction, and more! Event will be held rain or shine! To reserve a vendor spot or camp site please call Melvin Palmer at 256-249-8885. The antique/classic car and truck show will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. with Marble City Cruisers of Sylacauga.


Family Bingo Night featuring Halloween Bingo will be held at the Bibb Graves Community Center in Millerville on Saturday, October 28, from 5-8 p.m. New prizes, gift cards, and more! Treat buckets/bags for children 10 and under. Costume contest for adults, as well as for ages 12-18 and ages up to 12. Hot dogs, pizza, nachos, chips, candy, popcorn, and drinks will be available.


October 30 & November 4

The Coosa County Long Term Recovery Committee is holding a chicken plate fundraiser. Proceeds will benefit CCLTRC, serving those in Coosa County impacted by the January 12 tornado. Plates are $10 each and include ¼ smoked chicken, baked beans, chips, and dessert. Pickup will be November 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Alfa office in Rockford. Order deadline is October 30, and plates can be paid for at pickup. Cash or check accepted at pickup. 10% discount on plates for all first responders. November 5

The Weogufka Veterans Day Ceremony will be held Sunday, November 5, at 2 p.m. at 145 Memorial Loop, Weogufka, 35183. Sponsored by The Weogufka Neighborhood Watch.


November 10

The Weogufka Center will host bingo night on Friday, November 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. Hot dogs will be sold beginning at 5:30 p.m.



The Goodwater Youth Development and Recreational Center is open to the public weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and practice days for the travel ball team are those same days from 5 to 6 p.m. Cheerleader practice is held on Wednesdays and Fridays. The historic Old Rock Jail in Rockford will be open every Sunday afternoon beginning May 7 and going through October 29.



The Friends of Flagg Mountain host a potluck dinner (bring something to share) with entertainment by local musicians on the First Friday of every month. The Coosa County Republican Party meets the fourth Monday of every month at the Coosa County E-911 building in Rockford with refreshments at 6 p.m. and the meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. For more information email


The West Coosa Senior Center will host breakfast on the fourth Saturday of each month from 7-10 a.m. at the senior center, located in the old Stewartville school, located at 47 Coosa County Road 70, Sylacauga, 35151. Plates will be available for $6 each with choices of ham, bacon, sausage, eggs, gravies, and more! Dine in or call ahead to 256-249-2024 to carry out. Donations are appreciated!


Richville Neighborhood Watch will be held the first Thursday of each month at the fire department, 13185 Coosa County Rd. 14, Rockford, 35136. The gathering begins with a potluck meal at 6 p.m., and the meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Come out and see what is happening in your community.



The Hanover Community Club and Neighborhood Watch will now hold quarterly gatherings at Andrews Chapel. These quarterly gatherings are held on the third Tuesday of March, June, September, and December at Andrews Chapel Fellowship Hall at 6 p.m. Everyone is cordially invited and encouraged to attend.
