October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I pray for all victims and honor them by cutting my hair.
I have mentioned in my column before that October is a bittersweet month for me. First I lost my mother and younger brother in October (bitter). However, I was saved in October (sweet) under the leadership of the greatest pastor of all times (Deceased) Pastor Michel White, whose birthday is in October, and now I am serving God under a wonderful young servant of God, Pastor Chris Hill, whose birthday is also in October. We will celebrate his birthday on October 25 with much love and honor.
Last but not least of the sweet moments, I was speaking of my bittersweet days to my son Kareem, not thinking of his day (sorry, son). He gave me a look that I had never seen before and said, “Ma, I was born in October. Wasn’t that a sweet day?” Yes it was, October 15, 1976 (bicentennial year), and I celebrated in the hospital, and I am still celebrating 47 years after. Happy birthday to my youngest son, with all my love. Enjoy your day.
October 2023 has begun sweeter for me, despite the devil’s tricks. However, I am going to embrace the sweet side of life, for God’s goodness is running after me. Wow, I feel His goodness.
God has truly blessed me thus far in October. Rockford Church of God’s guest speaker Pastor Roland Hazel’s prayer uplifted my life to a level that words cannot explain. God gave me a new prayer language, answered prayers and much more. I have many testimonies that need to be shared just by receiving prayer and obeying God. I can hardly hold my peace.
God sent Pastor Hazel to Rockford Church of God just for me, and I thank Pastor Hill for inviting him. God already knows what all of us need, but He wants us to tell Him. He said we have not because we ask not. He loves for us to talk to Him; tell Him what you want. His line is never busy like some of ours, on the phone gossiping about false things that they heard. I am serious, but I have to laugh. That’s the bittersweet side of the October’s story.
October has two more weeks of good news and birthdays of the community that I would like to share next week, the Jubilee Senior Adult Revival, C.O.A.C.H. Quilt Walk, etc., which both were awesome. I can’t wait to share it.
Union Square’s Neighborhood Watch meeting on Monday was very enlightening, and Union Square’s Pat Windsor is guilty. She is guilty of many things happening in the Square. However, she is never charged, because she is just that good! She is always encouraging neighbors to attend the meetings, and they do. Pat’s sister, Diane, and her husband, Bill Hough, and their daughter, April, and her husband, Eddie Roberts, who recently moved into the neighborhood, were in attendance. We thank Mr. M.P. Heath for joining us as a new member.
Let’s pray for Israel.
