The Central High School science department was recently awarded two grants from the Lake Martin Home Owner and Boat Owners Association, and they did not waste any time putting the funds into action.
Mr. Mitchell’s environmental science classes pulled weeds from the raised garden beds to prepare them for their garden experiments. They are thankful to the Lake Martin HOBO Association for the grant that is providing the funds for their gardening soil and seeds and enjoyed going outside and getting started.
They will grow plants from seeds in the greenhouse and then plant the young plants in the garden with various types of organic fertilizers and compost. Thank you to science coach Shelley Wood for the pictures of the before, during and after of the raised garden beds.
