The Richville Neighborhood Watch will meet Thursday, October 5, at 6:30 p.m. with a potluck meal beginning at 6 p.m. at the Richville Volunteer Fire Department. Richville residents are encouraged to attend to keep up with what is happening in their community.

Sylacauga, Marble Valley Volunteer Fire Department is now announcing our 10th Annual Open House & Yard Sale Fundraising Event which will be held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, October 5-7 (rain or shine), at 2373 Coosa County Road 5, Sylacauga (also known as Marble Valley Road). Car Show, Swap Meet and Marketplace at Bibb Graves Community Center in Millerville (Hwy. 9 between Ashland and Goodwater) will be held Saturday October 7, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Marketplace will have vendors, craft vendors, food trucks, and more! 10×10 vendor space available for $25. Car registration is $20. Swap Meet is $10. Money tree, door prizes, 50/50 drawing, wipe-out board, music. Spectators free. Shoppes of Millerville will be open inside the old school. C.O.A.C.H., Cancer Outreach and Community Hope, is sponsoring a Memorial Quilt Walk to be held Sunday, October 8, from 1-5 p.m. at Edgewood Plantation, located at 14946 Alabama Highway 22, Rockford. BridgeWays of Coosa County is hosting Schools Out Day Camp! Kids in PK4 through fifth grades will enjoy a broad range of enriching experiences in a safe and nurturing environment. Schools Out Day Camp will be held on the following days during the 2023-2024 school year: October 13 and 16, November 10, November 20-22, and December 20-22. Cost is $20 per day, per child. There is a 20% discount for multiple children, as well as scholarship funds available. Day Camp is held at the BridgeWays Program Center, located in Rockford. Drop-off as early as 7:30 a.m., with pickup as late as 5:30 p.m. If there is enough need, we will extend drop-off and pick-up by 30 minutes. Save the date: 2023 Coosa County Forestry Planning Committee’s Landowner Tour will be held Thursday, October 19, with registration beginning at 8:30 and the tour being from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. The Landowner Tour will be at the property of Pierre and Lacy LeBeau, located at 8297 Coosa County Road 55, Weogufka, 35183. Topics will include hog trapping and potential cost share opportunities, Safe Harbor Program – threatened and endangered species, managing field borders – turkey nesting and fawning cover, and maintaining historical sites to include historical cemetery information. The Coosa County Long Term Recovery Committee is hosting a volunteer workday for tornado survivors October 20-21 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for any group or individual that would like to volunteer to help survivors. Any survivors from the January 12 tornado that need volunteer work are asked to contact the Coosa County Long Term Recovery Committee by September 10 to get on the list for assistance by emailing Coosaltr@gmail.com. Additionally, if survivors are contacted by an individual or agency regarding unmet needs, they can call the Coosa County Probate Office at 256-377-4919 to ask if that person or agency can be trusted. The Probate Office has the names and numbers of the representatives that may contact survivors.

BridgeWays of Coosa County is hosting Kids Night Out! This is a 3-and-a-half hour event where kids in PK4 through fifth grades enjoy dinner, play games, participate in activities, and socialize with their BridgeWays friends. Kids Night Out will be held on the following Fridays: October 27 – Halloween Party (costumes encouraged, but not required) and December 15 – Christmas Caroling. Cost is $12 per child, including dinner and all activities. Drop-off is between 5:30-6 p.m., and pick-up between 8:30-9 p.m. at our Rockford Program Center, 9922 U.S. Highway 231. The Goodwater Youth Development and Recreational Center is open to the public weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and practice days for the travel ball team are those same days from 5 to 6 p.m. Cheerleader practice is held on Wednesdays and Fridays. The Friends of Flagg Mountain host a potluck dinner (bring something to share) with entertainment by local musicians on the First Friday of every month. Richville Neighborhood Watch will be held the first Thursday of each month at the fire department, 13185 Coosa County Rd. 14, Rockford, 35136. The gathering begins with a potluck meal at 6 p.m., and the meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Come out and see what is happening in your community.
Quarterly
The Hanover Community Club and Neighborhood Watch will now hold quarterly gatherings at Andrews Chapel. These quarterly gatherings are held on the third Tuesday of March, June, September, and December at Andrews Chapel Fellowship Hall at 6 p.m. Everyone is cordially invited and encouraged to attend.
