Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
The Richville Volunteer Fire Department had a good attendance for bingo last Saturday night. The next bingo night is November 18 at 6:30 p.m. Make plans to attend. You get 20 games for $10 with prizes of $10 value.
Reminder that Alabama Power will be lowering the water on Mitchell Lake beginning next week, September 25, and begin refilling on October 9. So, if you plan to be on the water during that time watch for logs and snags that might be uncovered.
The Central High School football team will play Thorsby at home tonight at 7. Come out and support the team. While they have had two back-to-back losses, they are still 2-2 for the season which is the best they have had in a long time.
I encourage all to come out and support Central schools because they are our school. You don’t have to have children or grandchildren attending or playing. It’s for the entire county!
Providence Baptist Church has called a new pastor, Rev. Andy Dickson from Rockford. He will begin on October 1. We look forward to his leadership to move our church forward.
If you don’t have a church family, you are welcome to attend Providence. Sunday School begins at 10 a.m. with classes for all age groups and worship service at 11.
Sardis, Union and Concord all have Sunday services, also, so you are welcome at any of those. I don’t have contact information on Union Church located on Coosa County Road 459 near Providence. If someone could give me a contact name and number, I would appreciate it.
My Bible verses this week are Philippians 4:6-7, which read, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Prayer is more than just requesting favor from God. Prayer should be a communication between you and God to build your relationship. So, when you’re experiencing difficulties in life, you already have that line of communication.
When experiencing worry or doubt, prayer is a good thing; however, it shouldn’t be the only time we pray. God knows our needs, our worries and our blessings. But He wants us to ask for help when we need it, as well as thank and praise Him for blessing us.
God answers all Christians’ prayers, but not always the way we want it answered. We need to remember when we pray to ask in God’s will. We need to remember that when we pray. Just as at times we have asked our parents for something that they said no, they still answered.
Pray for those in our community that are experiencing sickness. We need to remember the shut-ins and their families, as well. So please pray for their healing in God’s will. God knows their names and needs. Until next week, take care and be joyful!
