Christopher’s Favorite Chocolate Brownies
Recipe submitted by Christine Owens
A reader contacted us recently requesting this recipe, stating that she used it often and that it made the “best brownies” she’d ever had. It became a staple recipe for her, and she was thrilled to find a brownie recipe that called for cocoa rather than melted chocolate. Unfortunately, she had lost her recipe. We wanted to re-run the beloved brownie recipe for her and others who may wish to try this “best brownie” recipe upon her glowing recommendation. Thank you to Ms. Owens for originally sharing this recipe with us, which was published in November.
Ingredients:
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. melted butter
2 eggs
1/2 c. unbleached flour
1/3 c. cocoa
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Directions:
Blend butter, sugar and vanilla in a large bowl; add eggs. Using a wooden spoon beat well. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Gradually blend this into the egg mixture. Spread into a greased 9-inch square pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. (Check at 15 minutes.) A knife should come out clean when they are done. (The secret is in the moisture.) Yields 16 brownies. Enjoy!
