Union Square’s Neighborhood Watch meeting is Monday, August 7, at 6 p.m.
Union Square is in great mourning. Some of our great neighbors have lost loved ones, some by accident and some by natural causes.
Neighbor, Mrs. Charlyne DeBardelaben, lost her brother, William Larry Denny, in a serious car wreck. Larry is also a relative of many others in Union Square, including Mrs. Sandra Denny and Terry and Rhonda Dennis.
Union Square’s Mrs. Malissa Brown (Lee) and brother Terry Robinson (Stephanie) lost their mother, Mrs. Mary Robinson, a very sweet lady who is the grandmother of Union Square’s Drew Robinson, Scott Brown and Maressa Ware.
Our hearts are saddened, for we have much love for these neighbors. There are other loved ones who are also grieving from Titus, the families of Frankie E.W. Armstrong, whose life was taken in the car with William Larry Denny, and the families of Mrs. Charlie Mae Crayton, who passed away after a long time of illness, and a dear friend and sister-in-law of my sister, Mrs. Peggy Crayton.
Our prayers and condolences go out to both families, as well as the community of Titus. There is a lot of love in the Titus and Union Square communities; however, sometimes we must be reminded of the real true love, and many times it comes through death.
Reading my devotional passage today concerning “love” reminded me of that true love, and I would like to share it with my readers. The true meaning of love has become polluted and perverted and bears no resemblance to the genuine love.
Genuine love is not a matter of heart flutters or quickened pulse. Authentic love is not a feeling or even a decision. True love is a being who is beyond all comprehension. God’s essence is the source of love., and His very being is formed by its presence.
Let us stay in the presence of God and keep love in our hearts. God teaches the heart of a man to turn from self and behold the one who causes it to beat. Once it stops beating, you cannot love.

Happy birthday to the happiest 6-year-old twins in the world, my great-niece and great-nephew, Katharine (Katie) Evelyn Johnson and Braxton David Johnson, who turned 6 years old on July 26, and they love to laugh and dance.
I told their mom, Trina, “It’s a Johnson’s thing.” These two are always happy.
Happy birthday to my son Bernard on August 2, and to all August babies.
“The definition of love has become diluted at best.”
