Three men, all Sylacauga residents, were recently arrested in connection to one case of burglary and theft at a residence south of Rockford on U.S. Highway 231.
The Sheriff’s Office took a report on July 11 for a burglary at 9576 U.S. Highway 231 in Rockford. The victim stated that the burglary occurred July 8-9.
During the investigation, video footage from the residence showed three individuals at the residence between July 8 and 9. They were identified as James Michael Stroud, Aaron Lee Pinkston and Demetrouse Dino Dejarnette.
As reported in the July 14 edition, Stroud was arrested July 10 in connection to an unrelated case.
At that time Stroud was arrested on charges of certain persons forbidden to carry a firearm and attempting to elude, following a pursuit that ended in a car wreck.
When the chase occurred, deputies had found numerous items in Stroud’s trunk upon the crash, including tools and other various items.
After getting the report of the robbery, the investigator recognized many of the items while taking inventory of the wrecked car in the impound lot.
The investigation determined that items found in the trunk of Stroud’s car were property stolen from the Rockford residence. Further investigation also led to finding more items stolen from the Sylacauga and Alpine areas.
The Sheriff’s Office stated that everything listed on the report, including a zero-turn lawn mower and numerous pieces of property, was recovered except for one item.
Stroud, 46 years old, was already in custody at the Coosa County Jail for his charges from July 10. On July 13, he was arrested and further charged with third-degree burglary and first-degree theft of property for this second case.
Aaron Pinkston, 46 years old, and Demetrouse Dejarnette, 47 years old, were also arrested on July 13. Each of them was also charged with third-degree burglary and first-degree theft of property.
In Alabama first-degree theft of property occurs when the property stolen exceeds $2,500 in value.
Stroud was given no bond for his charges, and he remains in custody at the Coosa County Jail awaiting trial.
Pinkston’s bonds were set at $22,500 for each of his two charges, making his total bond $45,000. As of press time he remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail awaiting trial.
Dejarnette’s total bond was also set at $45,000 for both charges. He was allowed to sign his own bond and was released on bond on July 22 to await trial.
Anyone who observes or suspects illegal activity is encouraged to report it to the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office at 256-377-4922 or online at www.coosacountyso.org. Anonymous tips are also welcome.
