A young man from Coosa County, specifically the Stewartville area, was arrested last Saturday on drug and other charges following a burglary.
On July 22, deputies responded to a burglary in progress on County Road 53 in the Stewartville area. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies surrounded a shed on the property and saw that the shed’s door had been pried open.
According to reports, a white male stuck his head out and was instructed to come out of the shed. He eventually surrendered.
The suspect, Waylon Wayne Cole, was patted down and reportedly cooperated with deputies. While talking to him, deputies smelled the strong odor of marijuana.
The investigation determined that Cole had stolen alcoholic beverages from the shed. Other items; including a controlled substance, marijuana and drug paraphernalia; were found on his person and in a bag in his possession.
The investigation culminated in 20-year-old Cole being arrested and charged with unlawful possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, minor in possession of alcohol, and fourth-degree theft of property.
Cole’s total bond for all seven charges was set at $22,500. As of press time he remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail awaiting trial.
