Rockford man dies in wreck; Goodwater man injured

A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 6:43 p.m. Saturday, July 22, has claimed the life of a Rockford man and left a Goodwater man injured.
Corey Hosey, 24, was fatally injured when the 2012 Dodge Ram pickup in which he was a passenger left the roadway and struck several trees. According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Hosey was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver, Dawson S. Horn, 23, of Goodwater, was also injured and transported to Russell Medical Center in Alexander City for treatment.
The crash occurred on Bywater Road, approximately 12 miles south of Alexander City, near Lake Martin in Coosa County.
Those who responded to the wreck were Coosa County Ambulance, Coosa County Sheriff’s Office, ALEA, Ray Volunteer Fire Department, Equality Volunteer Fire Department, and Coroner Jack Brewer.
Nothing further is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
Hosey is survived by his mother, Terri Sowash; sister, Shelly Hosey; grandparents, Peggy and Johnny Bailey; great-grandmother, Shirley Blair; niece, Kamryn Blair; and other family members and friends.
The visitation for Hosey will be today from 12 to 2 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga with the funeral being held at 2 p.m. He will be laid to rest in the New Site Cemetery in Weogufka.
