Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
Hard to believe that this is the last week in July. School starts soon; the summer has flown by.
I just returned home from a trip to Kentucky to visit with my youngest brother, then met my nephew, his wife, her mom, and aunt for a visit to the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum. I had been several years ago, but they have added much more. It is a great place, makes the Bible come to life.
The Coosa County Historical Society will meet on July 30 at the Rockford Methodist Church at 2 p.m. You don’t have to be a member to attend. We are making plans for the coming year. So, come out and hear what we have planned. Also, the Old Rock Jail will be open this Sunday from 2 to 4.
Richville Volunteer Fire Department will have bingo on Saturday, August 5, at 6:30 p.m. Come out and join the fun while helping support the fire department.
Don’t forget to order your Boston Butt from the Richville Volunteer Fire Department. They will be available on Saturday morning, September 2.
The Richville Neighborhood Watch is reorganizing with its first meeting planned for Thursday, August 10, at 6:30 p.m. at the fire department. Everyone in the Richville area is invited to help get things going again.
Please be in prayer for my church, Providence Baptist Church, as we continue to seek a pastor. It’s been seven months so while we continue, we know the Lord has someone out there for us.
I saw this on Facebook, “Don’t just ATTEND your church – LOVE your church. Serve, give, invite, worship, post, join, engage, participate!” Unfortunately, it seems many churches have people that attend, but it’s few that actually serve and participate. This is the time of year that many churches are seeking leaders and teachers. Be in prayer for where you can serve your church, but more importantly serve the LORD.
My scripture this week is about serving God. Joshua 22:5 reads, “But be very careful to keep the commandments and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you: to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to keep his commands, to hold fast to him and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.”
We can serve God by teaching, leading, outreach, using our talents and skills, giving our tithes, offerings, and time, and lastly but not least with prayer. As you share your time and talents to help others feel God’s love, you have personal growth, as well. So don’t just ATTEND your church; LOVE and SUPPORT it, as well.
There are several in our community that are not feeling well, so please pray for their healing in God’s will. God knows their names and needs. Until next week, take care and be joyful!
