Youth and families came out in great support and enjoyed Rockford Church of God’s “Water Day” Saturday.
Last Saturday, July 22, Rockford Church of God’s “Water Day” was a huge success and a blessed one, not only to our church family, but the community, as well.
God lifted the veil of storms and clouds, and we had a great turnout of approximately 70 people. We were honored by the presence of Mayor Scott White and truly blessed by the athletics from Upward Sports.
We want to thank Mayor White and his family and all of you who helped make this a great day of fun splash down. Pastor Chris Hill and Rockford Church of God are grateful for you.
Union Square wants to commend the Barclay brothers and family on another cleanup annual Fish and Fun Day held on May 20 at the Barclays’ cabin in Union Square, Rockford. It was a very good day for fishing, so good that some of the children caught fish without baits on their hooks. Maybe because of the beautiful overcast sky the fish were confused.
There were more children participating this year than usual. Thirty fishing reels were given out to the children, and every child received a prize.
The children from Mt. Zion Church in Sylacauga won first place in the fishing derby. There were other games for everyone to enjoy and plenty of good food and drinks.
Mr. Sam thanked everyone for attending and for praying for his granddaughter Kye’Andrea Barclay, who is still in UAB Hospital and still needs prayer. Let everyone please put Kye’Andrea on your prayer list and pray for a speedy recovery.
When all was said and done, the cabin and surrounding area were like brand new again. The Barclay family knows how to clean and respect all people and all communities. Every year they invite different homes, churches and communities to this event for the love of God.
I once asked Mr. Sam what this was for, and he said God had placed it on his heart to do something like this for the communities, and they have been very successful for many years. The Barclays are some lovable people and to be loved in all communities, especially Union Square.
“One step can start a journey. One song can change a moment. One smile can start a friendship. One hug can lift a soul. One candle can wipe out darkness. One life can make a difference. One word can start a prayer. One hope will lift a spirit. One touch can show you care.”
These words of encouragement are truly the Barclay family today!
Happy birthday to Reen Daniel, Lena Johnston, Ran Wilson, and to all July babies.
Let’s pray for all churches and our country, Pastor Ivor Smith, Bro. Thomas Taylor, Pastor Wilbert Johnson, and for all ill loved ones.
