Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
Just a reminder that this is a tax-free weekend. However, you need to check because all stores do not recognize it even if the county/city location does. This is a great time to buy back-to-school supplies and clothes. The first day of school for students is August 7.
Richville Volunteer Fire Department will have bingo on Saturday, August 5, at 6:30 p.m. Come out and join the fun while helping support the fire department.
Don’t forget to order your Boston Butt from the Richville Volunteer Fire Department. They will be available on Saturday morning, September 2.
The Richville Neighborhood Watch is reorganizing with their first meeting planned for Thursday, August 10, at 6:30 p.m. at the fire department. Everyone in the Richville area is invited to help get things going again.
Concord Baptist Church had a very good VBS last week. Providence Baptist Church is still looking for a pastor so continue to be in prayer for the church.
The Coosa County Historical Society will meet on July 30 at the Rockford Methodist Church at 2 p.m. You don’t have to be a member to attend. We are making plans for the coming year. So, come out and hear what we have planned. Also, the Old Rock Jail will be open this Sunday from 2 to 4.
My scripture this week is about anxiety. John 16:33 reads, “I have told you these things so that in ME you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.”
A saying you hear often when something adverse occurs is “God doesn’t promise us a bed of roses” so we as Christians understand that we will encounter problems. But as Christians, we have the assurance from this verse, as well as others, that God is always there.
By trusting in Him, we don’t avoid troubles, but we can have assurance that God is with us, not to prevent or erase troubles, but to give us peace. We can know in our hearts that He gives us hope which brings peace to our hearts.
There are several others in our community that are not feeling well, so please pray for their healing in God’s will, as well. God knows their names and needs. Until next week, take care and be joyful!
