Lonnie Earl Grogan

A Goodwater man was arrested earlier this month on two drug-related charges as the result of a traffic stop.
Deputies Mitchell and Payton were on routine patrol in the Goodwater area when they observed a truck with no tag. They proceeded to conduct a traffic stop and, according to reports, also knew the driver’s license was suspended because of prior interaction.
While one deputy was writing citations for the driver, 46-year-old Lonnie Earl Grogan of Goodwater, the K-9 was deployed and walked around the vehicle. The K-9 alerted on the vehicle, and deputies proceeded to find crystal methamphetamine inside the vehicle.
Grogan was arrested on June 13 and charged with possession of a controlled substance and second-degree possession of marijuana.
His total bond was set at $2,000, and he was released on bond on June 16 to await trial.
Anyone who observes or suspects illegal activity is encouraged to report it to the Sheriff’s Office at 256-377-4922 or online at www.coosacountyso.org. Anonymous tips are also welcome.
