A Kellyton woman was arrested Wednesday on drug-related charges stemming from a case that began last month.
On May 14, Investigator Ward was dispatched to County Road 48 in the Kellyton area because of a white vehicle with no tag that kept pulling up to numerous residences in the area. The suspicious vehicle was called in and reported to dispatch at the Sheriff’s Office.
Ward responded, and upon approaching the vehicle he saw a woman inside, later identified as 45-year-old Kristina Elliott of Kellyton, throw a bag out of the vehicle.
He proceeded to check the bag and noticed it contained a pipe commonly used for smoking methamphetamine, a bag of what appeared to be meth and a “rock powdery substance.”
The investigation culminated in Elliott being arrested Wednesday afternoon, June 14. She was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of possession of a controlled substance, one for meth and one for cocaine.
As of press time her bond had not yet been set, and she remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail awaiting trial.
Anyone who suspects or observes illegal activity is encouraged to report it to the Sheriff’s Office at 256-377-4922 or online at www.coosacountyso.org. Anonymous tips are also welcome.
