Union Square is smiling again and is very proud of our children who worked hard this year to accomplish their goals. We congratulate them all.
Two smart Union Square sisters, 16-year-old Ophelia and 14-year-old Kaylyn Gould, were honored at the end of the school year at Central High School.
Ophelia received a certificate of achievement in recognition of being most improved in Mrs. Lee’s English class and a C. P. R. certification, a class taken by some of the students.
Kaylyn, an all “A” student, received a certificate for the principal leadership award and academic excellence.
Ophelia and Kaylyn are smart girls and not only in books. They work faithfully at home doing their chores and in the church, singing in the choir and praising God for His goodness, especially for having great grandparents and church family. We love those girls. They are precious in so many ways.
We have a distant neighbor who is 11 years old. However, speaking with him you would think he is 30 years old. He is very intelligent and respectful for a young boy his age. He is none other than Bryson Carden.
He just finished the fifth grade, going into the sixth. However, he is so smart that he will be going into the sixth and seventh grades. They don’t want to skip him for various good reasons, but he is fully ready for seventh grade work. He will attend Veritas Christian School in Sylacauga.
I asked him if I could mention him in my column in the newspaper. He answered with a big smile, “Oh wow, I would love that!” He is a handsome little fellow, with the most beautiful eyes! I would love to have him as my son to show him off (smile.) He enjoys hunting and fishing.
If anyone thinks that children are not listening, open your ears and your hearts. If anyone thinks that dogs and cats are not smart, think again and pay attention. If anyone thinks that God is not real and prayer is not necessary or required, make you a prayer room.
When I moved back to Coosa County, the Lord laid on my heart to take one of my bedrooms and make it a prayer room. I obeyed, took everything out, remodeled it, and made a prayer room. God has really blessed me through this room in many ways that I cannot tell it all. However, I’ve got to testify about one ordeal.
I had a terrible fall and hit my head and eye on the sharp end of my dresser and blacked out for a minute. My furbaby, Kobe, heard the fall and came to my side, looking very sad trying to help. I told him it was okay, knowing it was not. I had blood all over my eye and the floor. I couldn’t get up.
Then the Holy Spirit said slide yourself into your prayer room. I did just that, and He took over. I got up, got some ice and a cloth and packed my eye.
I looked in the mirror and saw a miracle. About a fourth of an inch further and the sharp object would have gone into my eyeball. All I could do was cry, praise God and sing the song that my nephew LaJerrel Hill sang so beautifully, “God is a good God.” I sang it all that day, with pain and blood on my eye. Thank God for water (ice), as that is what kept the swelling from intruding.
I totally agree with Buzzy! “Only ugly people litter.” A commercial on television says “littering is stupid,” and I truly agree. People need to keep their trash in their car instead of throwing it in people’s yards. Now I’ll say “nasty people are trashy and lazy.”
Happy birthday to all June babies.
Let us pray for our loved ones who are depressed.
“All life demands struggle. Those who have everything given to them become lazy, selfish and insensitive to the real values of life.” – Pope Paul VI
