Put your walking shoes on and join the J. D. Thompson High School Alumni Association Saturday morning, June 10, for the healthy living event at the old school site, located at 1854 Coosa County Road 93.
Walk-a-Thon Chairperson Chlora K. May and committee members Sheryl Borden and JoAnn Shealy will greet you for registration beginning at 7 a.m. The 1.1 mile walk or run will start at 8 a.m. at the school and proceed around Mitchell Circle. For the safety of all walkers traffic measures will be in place.
If walking is not for you, donations can be made in memory of a loved one. Please come out and cheer the walkers on and enjoy the activities we have planned for the day.
After the walk at 9:30 a.m. you can join the alumni members as we say “Thank You” to former County Commissioner Unzell Kelley for his support of the alumni association during his time as commissioner of District 3.
At 11 a.m. the “Show your Wheels Parade” will begin. Show off your four-wheeler, bicycle, car, truck, or golf cart. A small donation is requested for participation.
Coach Gamble, our favorite exercise and health person, will be on site with exercises to help everyone get moving. The alumni building will be open for tours, and there will also be music by our local DJ, a food vendor, and lots of fun games and prizes.
Everyone is invited to come out and support this J. D. Thompson High School Alumni Association event.
