A Weogufka man incarcerated at the Talladega County Jail was further arrested last month on warrants from Coosa County.
On May 11, 51-year-old Eric Landers was arrested on the charge of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and for two counts of probation violation. Landers was housed in the Talladega County Jail when the warrants were served, and after being arrested on those charges in Coosa County, he was released back to jail in Talladega County.
Sheriff Michael Howell reported that the initial charge of unlawful distribution stemmed from a June 2022 case that involved Landers allegedly in the act of distributing a controlled substance.
A warrant was signed for that charge, and when deputies went to execute the warrant against Landers, they also did probation violation warrants for two other charges.
Howell explained that Landers had one probation violation for possession of a controlled substance, and the other was for certain persons forbidden to carry a firearm.
Landers’ bond for the unlawful distribution charge was set at $10,000. However, he received no bond for the two probation violations.
