PUBLIC NOTICE OF ELECTION REDISTRICTING:

 

Notice is hereby given that the Coosa County Board of Education has proposed to re-district its seats to match that of the Coosa County Commission. The Coosa County Board of Education will hold a public hearing at its June board meeting, June 22, 2023, in the Board meeting room at 73 Nixburg Rd., Rockford, AL 35136 at 4 PM, to accept public comments on re-drawing election district lines. The public is invited and public comment is welcomed. For more information see the Board’s resolution adopted on May 25, 2023, attached below, or contact the Board offices at the above address.

 

RESOLUTION TO POST NOTICE FOR DISTRICTS FOR MEMBERS OF THE COOSA COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

 

WHEREAS, Alabama Code § 16-8-1(b) provides that a county board of education shall apportion districts according to the last federal decennial census for a county board utilizing single-member district;

 

WHEREAS, the adoption of new district lines must, by Alabama Code § 16-8-1(b), be only after two weeks’ public notice has been given; and

 

WHEREAS, the Coosa County Board of Education proposes redistricting its districts in accordance with the district lines set by the Coosa County Commission.

 

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education directs the Superintendent to post public notice for two weeks of a plan to adopt new election district lines to match the County Commission’s election district lines.

 

This Resolution is passed by the Coosa County Board of Education on the 25th day of May, 2023.
