Serving a warrant at a residence in the Richville community ultimately led to four individuals from out of the county being arrested on drug-related charges.
Sheriff Michael Howell explained that Chilton County had a warrant on James Davis for violating the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act for failing to register as a sex offender. In the process of serving that warrant, law enforcement officers went to a residence on Day Break Curve in Richville.
Upon making contact with Davis at the residence, Howell said that officers saw some illegal drugs in plain view inside the residence. They proceeded to get a search warrant for the residence, which led to deputies locating a large amount of marijuana, glass pipes, scales, grinders, other drug paraphernalia, and a sawed-off shotgun.
The investigation and search led to four people being arrested and charged with various multiple charges.
James Davis; 39 years old, of Jemison; was charged with first-degree possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to register as a sex offender.
Amy Keown; 42 years old, of Birmingham; and 25-year-old Kaylin Hornback of Prattville were each charged with first-degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Mitchell Harden; 33 years old, of Atlanta, Georgia; was charged with first-degree possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a sawed-off shotgun.
All four individuals were arrested May 17. Keown’s and Hornback’s total bond was set at $7,000 each, with Keown being released on bond May 17, and Hornback being released on bond May 18.
Harden’s total bond for all three charges was set at $12,000, and he was released on bond on May 18 to await trial.
Davis’s total bond was set at $22,000. As of press time he remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail in Rockford awaiting trial.
Sheriff Howell thanks the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force and deputies and investigators with the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this case.
