The Town of Rockford’s Spring Fling in the Park will be held tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the area of the town park, located at the intersection of Nixburg Road and Jackson Street, with vendors lining the streets.
In addition to the list of numerous vendors, food trucks and organizations reported in last week’s edition, more vendors and organizations have since registered to participate in the day’s festivities.
The newest ones to join since last week’s report, as of press time, are the Coosa County Republican Party with information; Sharron Ward with cakes, signs, plants, and books; Chappell Lane with jewelry, decals, home fragrances, and soaps; LJ’s Concessions with funnel cakes, slushies and French fries; Dennis Creek Farms with all-natural beeswax lotion, scrubs and balms; and L & D Creations with jams, jellies, salsa, and wood crafts.
The Spring Fling will also feature a dunking booth where guests can pay for the chance to dunk Rockford Police Chief George Fanning or Matthew Reams, owner of Triple R Cafe in Rockford and pastor of Sardis Baptist Church. Donations received at the dunking booth will go to Coosa County BridgeWays to supplement its field trip budget for area youth for this summer.
In addition to the vendors, food trucks, dunking booth, and children’s activities, guests can also enjoy entertainment by County Line Kings, a live band that will be playing tomorrow.
Combined with Spring Fling in the Park, the town is also hosting a Spring Fling Car Show, with all cars, trucks and motorcycles welcome to participate.
There is no judging or contests, but there will be a money tree for participants. This means that numbers will be drawn for participants periodically, and the winning number can choose an envelope containing an amount of money off the “money tree,” with approximately half of the participants expected to win a monetary prize.
Participants can also purchase tickets for a 50/50 split pot. There is a $20 registration fee for the car show, and those participating with their car, truck, or motorcycle will be parked in the parking lot of the Department of Human Resources’ building and the surrounding area if needed.
For tomorrow’s Spring Fling event, drivers and attendees should be mindful that two roads will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Those are Nixburg Road from Triple R Cafe to Communication Drive and from North Jackson Street to the town’s softball park.
