Union Square News
Ruby Johnson
Some of you might notice that I speak a lot on Union Square’s neighbors or brag, if you might say. However, this week I will continue to speak on some things that’s happening in the Square, and it’s good news to brag about because God did it. But before I do, let me speak on a great man with wisdom who is not a Union Square resident, but has been adopted by some Union Square people.
Mr. Wayne Weeks of Rockford has been adopted by his Union Square cousins Joyce and Thomas Taylor, his Union Square church family, Tim and Lynne Taylor, Butch and Ruby Hardman, and Anita Patterson. Mr. Wayne Weeks is a man with great wisdom and a man with few words; however, those few words are so powerful that a deaf man can hear.
Anita Patterson of Union Square loves the Weeks’ family. She remembers his wife, Mrs. Agnis, before she passed away, and Anita’s sons, Corey and Windford, attended school together with the Week’s son, David, and daughter, Teresa, Weeks. David and Corey were also roommates in college for four years.
Anita always speaks highly of Mr. and Mrs. Weeks. She will always hold Mrs. Weeks in her heart, as well as Butch and myself. Mrs. Weeks touched our hearts in so many ways, and during this time of the Mother’s Day season our hearts are heavy, but joyful to have known her.
Years ago on Mother’s Day Eve is when I first met Mr. Weeks outside of the church cooking and preparing food for the mothers of the church for Mother’s Day, and he is still cooking today for the mothers. We want to wish Mrs. Weeks a happy heavenly Mother’s Day on Sunday.
Mr. Weeks also introduced me to one of the greatest pastors who ever lived, Pastor Dearl Lett of Rockford Church of God, and the rest is history. I will forever read this history book, and it will remain on my bookshelf and in my heart.
Everyone is invited to come and experience the move of God at Living Word Rockford Union Church in Union Square, at the intersection of county roads 18 and 40. Pastor Tim Marton is preaching the word of God every Sunday at 6 p.m. It is for everyone, no discrimination, and you will be blessed.
Calling all kids to Rockford’s children’s park for church on June 4 at 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. across the street from DHR on Nixburg Road at the children’s park. All kids are welcome. Come and learn while having fun doing it.
Prayer list: Mother Cathy Dennis, Brenda Crawford, Bonnie Abrams, and Lady Mandy Hill.
Our prayers and condolences go out to the family and friends of 21-year-old Sgt. Dylan Gentry, especially to Dakota Hill, a dear friend and school mate. Words cannot express our sympathy, empathy, pain, and heartache, but the assurance of God’s love and mercy will help us through it all.
Happy birthday to Madison Hill from the Rockford Church of God family. We love you.
