A Kellyton man was recently arrested for violating the Sexual Offender Registration and Notification Act, or SORNA.
The Sheriff’s Office reported this week that on April 13, 52-year-old Alonzo Blackmon of Kellyton was arrested and charged for failing to register as an adult sex offender.
He was reportedly turned over to corrections with the Coosa County Jail for booking. His bond was set at $500, and he has since been released on bond.
Blackmon was originally charged and convicted of second-degree sexual abuse, which resulted in him becoming a registered sex offender. As such, he is required to register and update any information necessary every three months in order to comply with the SORNA.
