A Goodwater man was arrested yesterday morning in Randolph County and charged in connection with a 2019 Coosa County homicide.
Sheriff Michael Howell reported that 42-year-old Leadam Quintez Kelly of Goodwater was charged with capital murder in the death of 29-year-old Andre Lamande Davis of Kellyton. Davis was found murdered on February 3, 2019, the night of Superbowl Sunday.
Kelly was arrested yesterday and booked into the Coosa County Jail at 8:19 a.m. He has no bond for this case.
Kelly was also charged with drug trafficking and first-degree possession of marijuana.
As reported in the February 8, 2019, edition of “The Coosa County News,” the report initially came into the Sheriff’s Office of what was believed to be a car wreck. However, once law enforcement officers arrived at the scene on County Road 111 west of Goodwater that fateful Sunday night four years ago, they discovered it was a homicide.
Davis was found away from his vehicle and lying near the wood line when first responders arrived at the scene. Davis’s death in 2019 was Coosa County’s first homicide since December 2017.
The Alabama State Bureau of Investigation assisted in the case from the beginning and continued to do so as it was an ongoing investigation.
As this was a late-breaking story at press time, any additional information, if available, will be included in next week’s edition.
