Central High School Coosa County’s Anna Casas was recently voted the Player of the Week in “The Outlook” based on total votes received from individuals.
An infielder and pitcher for the Central Cougars’ softball team, Casas’ Player of the Week win was announced April 14. She was recognized for her “strong performance at the plate and on the mound” in a game against Reeltown, where she led her team at the plate and had the most hits on the team with three total.
It was also noted that Casas pitched a complete game and tossed two strikeouts while doing so.
Casas is now in the running for Player of the Week once again this week.
This time Casas is featured among the three nominees for helping lead Coosa County during its area tournament run. In the Cougars’ first game against LaFayette it was noted that Casas was 2-3 at the plate and tallied three RBIs.
Additionally, she earned the win on the mound, allowing no hits and striking out half a dozen.
Individuals have until this afternoon to go to “The Outlook” website to cast their vote for this week’s Player of the Week. As of press time, Casas was in the lead in votes against other nominees Ashley Flurry and Malcolm Simmons.
