As part of their unit on taxation and fiscal policy senior economics students learned how to use a W-2 and irs.gov to complete a Form 1040 tax return. Leading up to Tax Day the class completed a tax return all together, and then students practiced preparing a return with a partner, and finally they were tested on completing a return individually using different sample W-2 forms.
Congratulations to the seniors who completed their tax return with 100% accuracy, Alissa Cosby, Zyriah Meadows, Nyajah Odem, Makenna Sanders, and JaNes Wyckoff. The class average for accuracy of the 1040 tax return was an impressive 88%. Pictured is senior Olivia Gaddis, finding the tax amount that should have been paid on the 2022 Tax Table.
