Central Coosa County Varsity Cougars nab win over Talladega High School despite early 5-run inning

Even though Central Cougars gave up five runs in the fourth inning, they still defeated Talladega High School 24-7 on Friday. Numbers 5, 1 and 6 each had RBIs in the frame. There was plenty of action on the base paths as Central Cougars collected nine hits, and Talladega High School had six. Central Cougars got on the board in the first inning. Antoneo Grant drove in one when Grant singled. Central Cougars tallied nine runs in the fifth inning. Central Cougars’ big inning was driven by walks by Javarious Wilson, Ry’Darious Gilbert, Ethan Strong, and Alex Williams; a triple by Grant; and a single by Dylan Calhoun.

Gilbert got the start for Central Cougars. Gilbert lasted three innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out seven. Central Cougars collected nine hits on the day.
