The Coosa County Conservation District welcomes James “Jad” Dawson as the new Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) district conservationist for Coosa and Tallapoosa counties.
Dawson has a degree in agricultural business and economics from Auburn University.
He began working for NRCS in the Autauga County Field Office in 2011. Though Dawson has been with NRCS since 2011, he was promoted to this position in February. Prior to his promotion, he was the NRCS soil conservationist for Marengo and Wilcox counties.
Dawson grew up in Bay Minette, but now resides in Autauga County where his family has operated a family farm for generations. He enjoys spending time outdoors and with his 8-year-old daughter, Caroline.
On Wednesdays each week, Dawson will be in Coosa County at the Soil and Water Conservation Office, which is located next to the Alabama Forestry Office in Hanover. Call Coosa County Conservation District at 256-377-4750 to schedule an appointment with him.
This allows him to be able to meet locally with residents and landowners to discuss NRCS activities without residents having to drive to the Alexander City office to meet with him.
However, if they prefer or it is more convenient for them, individuals can also meet with Dawson at the NRCS office for Tallapoosa and Coosa counties, which is located at 1995 Cherokee Road, Alexander City, 35010, and the phone number is 256-329-3084.
