The Master Builders competed in the First Lego League (FLL) State Robotics competition in Fort Payne last week. The Master Builders placed in the top 10% of all teams in the state of Alabama. The team; made up of Grayson Kelly, Noah Thornton, Wyatt Kimbrell, David Lee, Matthew Eubanks, Kyle Ballard, and Kaleb Ballard; have qualified for the FLL state robotics competition every year under the leadership of coach Meg Masters and mentors Nick Nickolson and Dre Burton.
Participating in robotics gives students an understanding of the basics of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Furthermore, it allows them to apply their problem-solving skills in an exciting competition while gaining productive learning habits, confidence and teamwork skills along the way.
The team will now begin to prepare for their final competition of the season, which will be held on May 13 at the National World War II Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana. The team is still accepting sponsorships for this competition season to help with expenses.
