A Weogufka man was arrested last Tuesday on three drug-related charges following a routine traffic stop.
Deputy Scott was traveling around Mockingbird Trail in the Weogufka area when he made a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 55-year-old Harvey Duke of Weogufka.
Scott proceeded to make contact with Duke and noticed the strong odor of marijuana coming from his vehicle. Scott and Deputy Payton then conducted a search of Duke’s vehicle.
Inside the vehicle they located marijuana, methamphetamine and a pipe used for smoking meth.
Duke was arrested on February 7 and charged with possession of a controlled substance, second-degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
His total bond was set at $10,000. He was released on bond on February 8 to await trial.
Anyone who suspects or observes illegal activity is encouraged to report it to the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office at 256-377-4922 or online at www.coosacountyso.org. Anonymous tips are also welcome.
