A Kellyton man was arrested earlier this month on six charges, including domestic violence and drug-related charges.
Sheriff Michael Howell reported that deputies and investigators responded to the County Road 311 area in response to a domestic violence call made in that area. Law enforcement officers made contact with the victim and attempted to make contact with the offender, identified as James Tucker, who was still on the scene.
Deputies attempted to place Tucker under arrest for third-degree domestic violence, but he reportedly resisted arrest.
When they eventually handcuffed Tucker, they searched him and found narcotics on him, including methamphetamine, marijuana, synthetic narcotics, and drug paraphernalia.
Ultimately Tucker, 31 years old of Kellyton, was arrested on February 1 on the charges of possession of a controlled substance (meth), possession of synthetic narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, first-degree possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, and third-degree domestic violence.
Tucker’s total bond for all charges was set at $20,500. As of press time he remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail in Rockford awaiting trial.
