Central boys basketball team advances to Regionals in Birmingham Monday

After winning the 2A Area Championship against B.B. Comer last Thursday with a score of 60-47, the Cougar men went on to win the sub-regional game against Tuscaloosa Academy Tuesday in a hard fought game with a final score of 65-50. In Tuesday’s sub-regional game Damarkus Sandlin scored 24 points to lead the Cougars past Tuscaloosa Academy. The game was tied at 24 at halftime before the Cougars pulled out the victory in the second half. The Cougars scored at will in the paint; they went 23-40 on twos. They passed the ball well with 12 assists on 25 made baskets. Lacorrian Thompson led the team with five assists. Nehemiah Sander (10 points), Elijah Richardson (9 points), Lacorrian Thompson (9 points), Majavius Culpepper (5 points), Cassidy Howard (4 points), and Conner Mithell (4 points) also pitched in for the Cougar win.
