George Eddie Arnold

 

Funeral service for Mr. George Eddie Arnold, 77, of Kellyton, was Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Bro. Norman Strickling officiated. Burial followed in the Hillview Memorial Park.

Mr. Arnold passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Russell Medical. He was born on April 12, 1944, in Tallapoosa County to Jacob Leroy Arnold and Lavelle Dean Abrams. Eddie was a man of strong faith and was a U.S. Army veteran. For many years, he owned and operated his own Auto Paint & Body repair shop. Eddie had a servant’s heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others.

He is survived by his grandson, Will Arnold of Phenix City; sister, Dianne Goodwin (Dwight) of Eastaboga; brothers, Rick Hamm (Tina) of Alexandria, Stan Carlton (Dianna) of Wetumpka, Charles Carlton (Marilyn) of Verona, Virginia, Lenny Arnold of Alex City, Ricky Arnold of Sylacauga, Bruce Arnold of Picayune, Mississippi, Bobby Arnold of Charleston, South Carolina, and David Arnold of Ft. Walton, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy Hunter Arnold; and sons, Michael Casey Arnold and Mitchell Cole Arnold.

Justin Wayne Barton

 

Graveside service for Mr. Justin Wayne Barton, 75, of Rockford, was Thursday, January 20, 2022, at the Rockford City Cemetery. Dr. Jeffrey Fuller officiated.

Mr. Barton passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at his residence. He was born on October 2, 1946, in Georgia to Jacob Benjamin Dallas Barton and Sally Linnie Martin Barton. He was a member of Rockford Baptist Church. He was a Vietnam Combat Veteran where he served as an ambulance driver in the medical corp. His life’s work was in construction and masonry. Mr. Barton could often be found at the casino working toward his big win. Mr. Barton was a man of strength and valor and was considered a “man’s man.” He was a great storyteller, a very funny person and loved to make people laugh.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kelli and Matt Frutchey of Rockford; sisters, Shirley Barton Kirby of Rockford and Patsy Barton Lamberth of Weirsdale, Florida; several nieces and nephews, including Jimmy Edward Guthery, Carl Lester Guthery Jr., Linda Gail Rose, and Susie Kirby.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne Barton; his parents; sisters, Frances Barton McLemore and Tolulah Hortense Guthery; and brothers, Harold Barton, George Ellis Barton, Billy Frank Barton, and Jacob Dallas Barton.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital; 501 St. Jude Place; Memphis, TN 38105.

Mike Harmon Jr.

 

Funeral service for Mike Harmon Jr., 56, of Weogufka, will be Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Curtis and Sons Chapel with Bro. Roger Singleton officiating.  Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga.

Mr. Harmon Jr. died Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Coosa Valley Medical Center.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Cindy Lessley Moody; grandfather, Aubrey Louise Harmon; grandmother, Helen Mae Harmon; and grandmother, Mary Annette Pearson.  Mike was a member at Mountainview Baptist Church in Childersburg.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kristy Harmon; three daughters, Shelley (Parker) Sanders, Kacy Harmon, Ally Harmon; parents, Mike and Rickey Harmon; and grandson, Nolan Michael Sanders.

Visitation will be Friday, January 21, 2022, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Brian Walker, Maury Forbus, Brent Forbus, Chris Dale, Michael Moody, Johnny Hickman, Bill Hodges, and Chad Wilkinson.

Flowers will be accepted or Mike would love if contributions are given to Mountainview Baptist Church.

Robbie Jean Goodwin Marable

 

Graveside service for Mrs. Robbie Jean Goodwin Marable, 83, of Alexander City, was Thursday, January 20, 2022, at the Liberty Methodist Cemetery in Hackneyville. Dr. Josh Sammons officiated.

Mrs. Marable passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022, at Chapman Healthcare Center. She was born on October 1, 1938, in Alexander City to Wallace Green and Louise Dean Green. She was an active member of Hillabee Baptist Church. She was a loving mother who worked hard her entire life. She enjoyed working in her yard. After retiring from Russell Mills she worked for several years at The Salvation Army in Alexander City where she eventually became the director of the office here in town.

She is survived by her sons, Tommy Lynn Goodwin of Alexander City and Phillip Huel Goodwin (Patti) of Goodwater; grandchildren, Brandi Laine Cotney (Daniel) of New Site, Brandon Bryan of New Site, Jeremy Lynn Goodwin of Alexander City, and Houston Goodwin of Kellyton; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Roger Green (Brenda) of Hackneyville; and sister-in-law, Helen McLeod of Alexander City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Clarence Huel Goodwin; second husband, Gene Marable; daughter, Debra Jean Keel; grandchild, Jamie Olivia Goodwin; sister, Ruby Thompson; and brother, Jimmy Green.

Glenda Jo Mascari

 

Mrs. Glenda Jo Mascari, 49, of Goodwater, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at her residence. She was born on November 17, 1972, in Alexander City to Harry Lee Price and Joanett Johnson Price. She was a member of Hackneyville Community Church. She was very active with the Brave Hearts Organization. She was well known as the owner of Scooter’s Grille in Hackneyville.

She is survived by her husband, Rusty Mascari of Goodwater; parents, Harry Lee Price and Joanett Price of Alexander City; sister, Vickie Price Johnsey (Heath) of Mt. Olive, North Carolina; nephew, Tyler Johnsey of Mt. Olive, North Carolina; and mother-in-law, Dorothy King of Goodwater.

Johnny Mack Kirkpatrick

 

Memorial service for Johnny Mack Kirkpatrick, 83, of Sylacauga, was Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with Bro. Joe Camp and Bro. Jimmy Brown officiating.

Mr. Kirkpatrick died Saturday, January 15, 2022, at his residence.  He was preceded in death by his grandmother and grandfather, Rosa and John William Dunaway; mother, Catherine Roberson; and step-father, Jim Langston.

He is survived by his wife, Sybil Kirkpatrick; three sons, Michael Kirkpatrick, Johnny Kirkpatrick Jr., Steven (Dawn) Kirkpatrick; four grandchildren, Bryson Kirkpatrick, Emma Kirkpatrick, Ella Kate Kirkpatrick, Clay Kirkpatrick; and a host of friends left to cherish his memory.

Mary Kelly Strickland

 

Funeral service for Mrs. Mary Kelly Strickland, 75, of Alexander City, will be Friday, January 21, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the Alexander City Church of Christ. Minister Brendan Chance and Minister Chris Tidwell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 21, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Alexander City Church of Christ building.

Mrs. Strickland passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Russell Medical. She was born on November 15, 1946, in Madison County to James Earl Kelly and Willa Dean Whitt Kelly. She was an active member of Alex City Church of Christ and loved attending Church. She worked at Russell Medical for many years as a nursing assistant in Outpatient Surgery. She previously had worked at Brown Nursing Home. She dearly loved her family and enjoyed family vacations to the mountains and the beach with them. She enjoyed shopping, Facebook, watching TV, word search puzzles, and Alabama Football.

She is survived by her daughters, April Turner (Billy) of Kellyton and Deanna Miller (Brian) of Goodwater; sons, Robby Strickland (Serena), Tim Strickland (Betty), Kenny Wayne Strickland (Lynn), all of Alexander City; grandchildren, Abbey Strickland (Tyler Jones), Karli Smith (Drew), Taylor Patterson (Cole), Derek Strickland, Owen Miller, Easton Turner, Payton Williams (Reid), and Dalton Hall (Hannah); great-grandchildren, Bryli Smith, Olivia Smith, Stella Kate Smith, Saige Patterson, Colson Patterson, and Canaan Jones; brothers, Frank Kelly (Linda), Charles Kelly (Mary Nell); and sisters, Tanya Schindler (Ted) and Brenda Dunham (Tim).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnall Strickland; her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Avis and Elam Barker.
