The Alabama Republican Party (ALGOP) is pleased to announce Reid Harris as its new executive director, bringing extensive experience in law, public policy, state government, and strategic leadership to the party.
Harris most recently served as general counsel at BHA Strategy, where he provided legal and strategic guidance on corporate, ethics, fundraising, and public affairs matters. Prior to that, he served as deputy general counsel to Gov. Kay Ivey, helping advance the governor’s agenda and advising on legislative, legal and executive branch matters.
Harris also spent three years in the Office of Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall as an assistant attorney general in the Constitutional Defense Division. In that role, he managed complex constitutional litigation in state and federal courts and represented the State of Alabama in several significant legal matters.
Earlier in his career, Harris served as a judicial law clerk for U.S. District Judge W. Harold Albritton.
“Reid brings an impressive combination of experience, judgment and leadership to the Alabama Republican Party, and we’re extremely excited to welcome him to our team,” said ALGOP Chair Scott Stadthagen.
“He has the experience and steady leadership we need at an important time for our party,” Stadthagen added, “and we’re really looking forward to all that he’ll accomplish as part of the ALGOP team.”
Harris earned his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Alabama School of Law, where he served as senior editor of the Alabama Law Review. He received his bachelor’s degree in public policy studies and Spanish from Vanderbilt University.
As executive director, Harris will oversee the party’s day-to-day operations and work alongside Chair Stadthagen, ALGOP staff, elected officials, and grassroots leaders as the party prepares for the November general election and continues strengthening its organization statewide.
