Breaking: Texas man dies in Rockford crash

A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 3 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, has claimed the life of a Texas man who had connections to Coosa County.

Rickey T. Montz, 68, of Plano, Texas, was fatally injured when the 2013 Lincoln MKS he was driving left the roadway and struck an embankment. Montz was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred on Coosa County Road 42 near Coosa County Road 127, approximately five miles east of Rockford, in Coosa County.

Nothing further is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
